Overview
The templates are typically made from stamped plastic and have
an assortment of hole sizes. Some templates have the holes all on one sheet.
The ones we sell are on separate sheets that make it easier to handle.
The templates serve 2 purposes. One, they provide markers to divide the
egg equally into a range of possibilities. Second, they help draw really
nice circles. |

DRAWING DIVISIONS WITH THE TEMPLATE
Pick the best template that fits over the egg that places it approximately
half way between the middle and the end of the egg. Center the egg in the
template. Marking the very tip of the egg is helpful. Do this by looking
straight over the end of the egg and making a small mark at its center.
Notice the template has several sets of markings. The chart below shows
which markings are used to produce the desired divisions on your
egg

MARK THE EGG
Using a drafting pencil, lightly draw a short line at the appropriate
degree mark on your egg. |
|
EXAMPLE - 4 Divisions
On this egg, we used the 90 degree marks to divide this egg into 4
equal horizontal divisions. The green arrows point out markings for this
division. |
|
COMPLETE THE LINES
Using a drafting pencil, draw lines from the center mark to the division
mark and then continue on to the equatorial line. The picture to
the left is for our 4 division example. The technique for drawing
on the egg are explained further in the tutorial. |

DRAWING CIRCLES
Here's breaking news, a circle template is really great for drawing,
you guessed it,...circles! In fact it can help you draw really perfect
circles, if you take your time. You can place the template anywhere on
the egg, but if you want to align it at an intersection, use the
degree markings to help, as shown in our picture to the left. Take
you drafting pencil and trace lightly around the inside template hole. |
|
EXAMPLE - CIRCLE DRAW
We used the circle template to draw nearly perfect circle (see what
happens when you get in a hurry!) at the intersection. These circles are
great for drawing star patterns, which will be discussed in our tutorial
in the future. |
